It looks like there may be some movement regarding Takumi Minamino’s future at Liverpool soon.

Well, it’s possible anyway.

It was reported this week that Southampton were keen on signing the Liverpool winger, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Saints.

And Minamino has just pulled out of the Japan squad, as per an official statement.

The statement claims that Minamino – who earns £75,000 per week at Liverpool – has withdrawn due to matters relating to his club.

And considering the speculation about his potential exit from Anfield, it seems like the two could very well be linked.

Struggle

Minamino joined Liverpool from Red Bull Salzburg 18 months ago but it’s been a struggle under Jurgen Klopp, it has to be said.

The 25-year-old has only managed four starts in the Premier League under the German coach, illustrating his difficulty when it comes to adapting.

And as harsh as it sounds, he wouldn’t be missed in terms of football ability.

Liverpool have much better players and if Minamino fails to seal a move away from Merseyside this summer, it’s going to be a quiet, quiet season next term.
