‘Liverpool won’t be the same’: Paul Merson claims Reds cannot beat Brighton because of one Klopp player

Paul Merson has intimated that Liverpool will need Virgil van Dijk, claiming they will drop points at Brighton & Hove Albion because of his absence.
Van Dijk is sidelined for a number of weeks at quite a bad time for the Reds.
After all, Liverpool already have Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino sidelined, so the loss of the Dutch defender is another major blow for Jurgen Klopp’s side who were already struggling.
And now that Van Dijk is absent, Merson does not believe that Saturday’s visit to the Seagulls will yield three points.
He told Sportskeeda: “Liverpool won’t be the same without Virgil van Dijk in the side. He’s their Rolls Royce. This is a major game for Liverpool, and I don’t see Brighton losing this game. I’m going to go with a draw, and I’m being kind to Liverpool here.”
You know things are tough when you’re being told that you cannot beat Brighton away without a central defender.
But unfortunately for Liverpool, this is the reality of the situation.
Albion are scoring goals for fun at the moment and without a defender of Van Dijk’s calibre, Klopp’s side genuinely are vulnerable at the Amex Stadium.
Yes, Liverpool have an array of world-class attacking talent, but can they keep them out at the other end? That is the question.
