When it comes to our weekend binge days, it’s best to focus on one thing at a time. A criminal mastermind who rightfully earned the nickname, “the Professor” is planning to orchestrate the greatest heist in recorded history.
He plans to print out billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain. Because nobody can achieve success alone, the Professor gathers eight people with certain abilities and nothing to lose. The group of thieves take hostages to help them negotiate with authorities, who will stop at nothing to capture the Professor. Soon the robbers will have to face a showdown with the police!
Does that sound like a good binge? Money Heist fans know what we’re talking about. Even better – it’s been renewed for season 5, and a release date is out. Here’s what we know about the release date.
At this point, we can say season 4 sharply enhanced the action and added bloodshed like a gory, gooey dessert. There was more bloodshed this season than any of the other seasons combined!
Fans probably expected season 4 to end the same way season 2 did. After just two seasons, the heist reached completion, but nothing went as planned this time around. The gang was forced to buy themselves more time. Season 4 ended on a cliffhanger, arguably the best way to end a hit show.
Netflix is sure about Money Heist’s future. The show has a place in Spain, Denmark and Portugal. The final season will be filled with ten episodes.
Money Heist season 5 release date
Alright, so if it’s already been confirmed, then what happens now? When can we begin the countdown for the show’s return to Netflix?
It’s not uncommon for a heist to be filled with many twists & turns, and the last season of Money Heist will be no different. Netflix has decided to split the story into two different volumes for the final chapter. Both volumes are expected to have varying moods.
Volume 1 will be released on September 3rd, 2021, and Volume 2 will be there December 3rd, 2021.
Money Heist’s creator Alex Pina said in a statement that they “. . . decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting the Gang on the ropes. In volume two, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”
Who’s coming back?
Netflix has also told us who we can expect to see back in this upcoming chapter. And there will be some new faces coming along!
Miguel Ángel Silvestre (Sky Rojo, Sense8) and Goya Award Nominee Patrick Criado (La gran familia española, Vivir sin permiso) will definitely be new additions. The returning stars include but are certainly not limited to Úrsula Corberó (Tokyo), Álvaro Morte (the Professor), Fernando Cayo (Coronel Tamayo), Rodrigo de la Serna (Palermo), Najwa Nimri (Inspector Sierra), José Manuel Poga (Gandía).
Plot (spoilers ahead)
“If you’re going to watch it, keep your tissues close to you,” Nairobi (Alba Flores) said through Oprah Daily. She added that the season was tougher than we thought it’ll be at the beginning.
Executive producer Jesús Colmenar told EW, “This season is very different from all the previous seasons, and we have put all our eggs in one basket to go out with a bang.” The creator added that the season will be “. . . one of total destruction.”
It’ll catch up with the Professor with the gang while they’re doing what they do best: armed robbery of the highest degree and political resistance added in like a condiment.
The season’s official synopsis will revolve around the gang being shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They’ve rescued Lisbon, but they’ve lost one of their own. The Professor has been captured and for the first time, is without a plan. But just when it seems like things are at their very worst, a much more powerful enemy comes along. This enemy is more powerful than what they’ve ever faced.
What began as a mere robbery will turn into war. Money Heist Season 5 is coming and we’ve already confirmed the release date! What was your favorite season? When are you going to start your countdown? Let us know in the comments!
