New Christmas slasher is a bloody take on a classic movie

This week, the new Christmas slasher movie called ‘It’s a Wonderful Knife’ finally made its way onto streaming platforms; as the name suggests, this new comedy horror film is a semi-parody of the classic Holiday movie ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.

Instead of the main character recognizing and finding meaning in all of his previous good deeds like in the original movie from 1946, this new movie sees its lead character finding out how many deaths she has accidentally prevented.

It’s a Wonderful Knife follows a young woman called Winnie Carruthers, who saved her small town of Angel Falls from a psychotic serial killer last Christmas Eve, only to find herself battling depression and anxiety from the attack. However, there are far more twists to this Christmas tale that await her this festive season.

“When she wishes she’d never been born, she finds herself in a nightmare parallel universe and discovers that without her, things could be much, much worse.”

Unfortunately, the serial killer has now returned and Winnie “must team up with the town misfit to identify the killer and get back to her own reality.”

Hilariously, director Tyler MacIntyre was asked by Entertainment Weekly about what Jimmy Stewart (the star of It’s a Wonderful Life) would say about the reimagining of his classic movie, to which he responded:

“I love Jimmy Stewart. He’s my template for a very empathetic performer. Nobody is as nice in real life as Jimmy Stewart is in my mind. I can’t really even imagine him disliking something, let alone our movie.”
