Player is not going to join Celtic now, Brendan Rodgers ‘a huge fan’

Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have reportedly failed in their quest to sign Kieran Tierney from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
90min has reported that Scottish Premiership club Celtic want(ed) to sign Kieran Tierney from Premier League outfit Arsenal.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers “is a huge fan” of Tierney, according to the report.
Although the Scottish Premiership champions tried to sign the left-back this summer, they “could not match Real Sociedad’s offer of paying Tierney’s wages in full, meaning a return to his first club won’t happen and he will instead move to San Sebastian”, according to the report.
Rodgers worked with Tierney at Celtic.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that the 26-year-old former Celtic star will move to La Liga club Real Sociedad on a loan deal.
Kieran Tierney was always unlikely to join Celtic from Arsenal
It was always unlikely that Celtic were going to sign Tierney from Arsenal this summer.
First of all, Tierney’s salary of £110,000 per week is huge.
Secondly, leaving the Premier League and returning to the Scottish Premiership would have been a step-down for the 26-year-old.
Yes, Tierney did well during his time at Celtic and loves the Hoops, but for his career, it would not have been a good move to return to the Scottish Premiership.
La Liga is one of the biggest domestic leagues in the world, and Real Sociedad will play in the UEFA Champions League this season.
During his time in the Premier League so far in his career, Tierney has made 91 appearances.
The left-back has scored three goals, given eight assists, and kept 19 clean sheets in those games.
