The American comes straight from Las Vegas, where he took the bronze medal at Skate America – the first ISU Grand Prix of the season – with an overall score of 269.37 as he looks to replicate the result to secure a place at the ISU Grand Prix final.

Chen was beaten only by compatriot Vincent Zhou and Japan’s Shoma Uno in Nevada with scores of 295.56 and 270.68, respectively.

Canada’s Keegan Messing is touted as a dark horse after he produced an impressive performance at the Finlandia Trophy earlier in the month but narrowly missed out on the podium.

The women’s event is set to be an exciting battle between upcoming star Kamila Valieva of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FSR), who was crowned the 2020 ISU World Junior Champion, and her countrywoman Elizaveta Tuktamysheva.

Tuktamysheva won the 2018 edition and was also the 2021 World Figure Skating Championships silver medallist in Stockholm.

Alena Kostornaia, also of the FSR, is similarly tipped for success after winning the 2020 European Championships.
