Why thousands are asking if Luke Shaw is a Muslim

Is Luke Shaw a Muslim? Many have asked about the Manchester United and England star’s religion as we enter Ramadan.
The 27-year-old hit the headlines on Thursday night after receiving two yellow cards in a matter of seconds as England recorded a 2-1 win over Italy in Naples.
As the Manchester United No.23’s name began to trend, many asked whether he is a Muslim or not – for one reason.
Why some people think Luke Shaw is a Muslim
Well, rumours began to circle about Shaw being a Muslim after he was seen wearing white robes – traditionally known as thawbs – in Dubai alongside Adnan Januzaj and Bojan back in 2017.
Instagram user Ahmed El-Saraf posted a photo of the £27m Manchester United star wearing thawbs with the caption: “Having Sohoor night with the boys.”

Sohoor is the pre-dawn meal eaten by those observing Ramadan before they spend the daylight hours fasting.
In that respect, you can understand why many believe Shaw is a Muslim.
However – as far as we can see on the internet – that is the only evidence of Shaw being a Muslim.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the left-back is actually a Muslim, or if he was simply keen to learn more about the religion by taking part in Sohoor night.
